How Did This Happen?

I’m a nominee for Bold & Digital Men of Social Media 2011 Men of Social Media Calendar. You’re probably asking yourself the same thing I am: How Did This Happen?

Up until a month ago, I had known Teresa Peek (@MeBPlanner) through Twitter and Facebook. But after almost a year and a half since we had first met, we finally saw each other F2F for the first time at Foiled Cupcakes 1 Year Party. She mentioned to me that she was working on getting me nominated for a Men of Social Media calendar. At the time, I had only vaguely heard of this project and some of the nominees like David Armano, Scott Stratten, Scott Monty, and Pete Cashmore. I was almost in shock that she would think highly enough of me to even consider suggesting me, out of all the great guys in social media, here in Chicago alone.

I was flattered, but didn’t think too much about it after that. Then, last week Teresa told me I was going to be on the ballot this week for the #Socialmen special nomination for consideration in the final top 12. And sure enough, I’m on there! So how did this happen? It all started with Teresa Peek. Where it goes is up to you.

Addded 9/10/10- Voting is over. You all ROCKED the vote and with almost 1,000 votes, I ended with the highest total. All I have to say will take another post, but for now, I’ll just say, “Thank YOU!”

Voting is simple:

To the best on my knowledge:

• Voting will end on Friday, September 10.
• You can only vote once. I think this is determined by IP address, so if you have another router (ie at work, Starbucks, etc.) or a web enabled phone, you may be able to vote more than once.
• Only the top vote getter out of this week’s group will be considered for the final top 12 spots on the 2011 Men of Social Media Calendar.
• Once the top 12 are selected, the calendar will be available for sale and proceeds will help Falling Whistles
